Submissions

Short presentations will include brief, pre-recorded one-minute presentations given by individual authors. These presentations will be available to all conference attendees, during the entire meeting. 

These presentations will be followed by a virtual poster session. Each presenter will be assigned to a breakout room for ninety minutes. Attendees will enter and exit breakout rooms freely during the 90-minute session for live interactive poster session with the presenter.

Potential presenters will be accepted based on a peer-review of the submitted abstract. Abstracts must be two (2) pages or less in length and include two (2) figures or tables. Abstracts submitted by trainees, early career investigators and/or attendees that have not presented at ICVR before will be prioritized for acceptance.

Abstract submission is now open, with the deadline for submission on April 19, 2021.

Symposia sessions will include presentations by 3 to 5 individual speakers that offer unique perspectives on a specific central theme relevant to our community of researchers and clinicians, followed by a moderated, interactive scientific exchange involving the audience. The symposium session should not exceed 1 hour and 45 minutes, and allow for sufficient time for the moderated discussion.

Symposia presentations will be chosen by the congress scientific committee with priority given to:

• topics that address novel or contentious issues
• bridge between basic and clinical fields
• include a diverse range of speakers that bring unique approaches or perspectives to the topic
• encourage in-depth discussion and debate between presenters and the audience 

As interactive exchange is a critical component of the symposia, each symposium submission should include two stimulating questions to the audience as a starting point for the discussion.
Online applications for symposia proposals are now open, with the deadline for submission on April 19, 2021.

Please note: If accepted, each symposia presenter will be required to submit an individual abstract for their presentation by the general submission deadline of June 21, 2021. 

To submit a proposal, please read and adhere to the submission guidelines below:

General Information:

• Prepare to enter the contact name, affiliation/institution name and email address for each of the symposia presenters.
• Groups with speakers from at least two countries and groups with at least one trainee or early career investigator will be prioritized ahead of groups with speakers from a single country and groups comprised of only senior scientists.
• Prepare a symposium title (max 225 character limit including spaces – approximately 40 words)

Required Submission Questions:

1. Include the name and affiliation of your symposium Chair.
2. Prepare a general abstract summary of the proposed symposium (max 3000 character limit including spaces- approximately 500 words) that introduces the topic and justifies why the proposed topic is novel, contentious, or highly relevant for discussion. If selected, this summary will be included in the conference proceedings. Note: speakers included in successful proposals, will be invited to submit individual abstracts for their specific presentations within the symposium by no later than June 21, 2021.
3. Provide a brief description of how each speaker will offer a unique approach/perspective to the proposed topic. 600 characters including spaces max (approx. 100 words) per speaker. Please include each speaker name
   (If accepted, each symposia presenter will be required to submit an individual abstract for their presentation by the general submission deadline of June 21, 2021)
4. Provide a brief outline of a moderated, interactive scientific exchange with the audience, based on the individual presentations and the overarching topic they address. 1800 characters including spaces maximum (approx. 300 words)
5. Indicate who will be the moderator of this exchange
6. Provide two (2) stimulating questions to the audience as a starting point for the discussion
7. Within the 1 hour and 45 min symposium, you will be required to indicate how much time will be used for the Symposium introduction, individual speaker presentations, and moderated, interactive scientific exchange
8. Provide a disclosure of potential conflicts of interest for each of the symposium participants (if applicable)
